You may laugh, you may even think it's funny, but did you know that it is also destroying the morale and cohesiveness of your team or organization?  The problem is raunchy comments and questionable jokes in the workplace.  And the trend is growing.

Almost 38% of women reported hearing comments ladened with sexual innuendo, in appropriate wisecracks or taunts at the office in 2007, up from 22% in 2006, according to BusinessWeek magazine (March 17, 2008).  Men reporting the same incidents stayed steady at 45%.  Also, 44% of men and 24% of women reported hearing racial slurs.

All of this adds up to tension in the workplace, and stressors that can reduce productivity and cause turnover as good emloyees leave.  People want to be treated with respect.
