Every business and organization spent a considerable amount of time and money to ensure their technological backbone was ready for Y2K, but apparently one company forgot to be ready for Leap Day 2008. Apparently United Airlines "Easy Check-In" kiosks couldn't handle a 29th day in February, and customers were forced to stand in long lines to be checked in the old fashioned way (Chicago Tribune, Mar. 1, 2008).
As your organization becomes even more dependent on technology to support customers and internal business needs, it becomes essential that this technology is not taken for granted, and the proper review and due dilligence accompanies its use.
